Imagine your local scientific and historical center launching an exciting new initiative to bring the wonders of astronautics closer to the community. The center is rolling out a monthly subscription service that features a curated mix of popular articles, the latest current events, and eye-catching graphics all centered around space exploration and innovation. Subscribers will receive exclusive content that not only highlights breakthrough discoveries and inspiring astronaut stories but also delves into the historical milestones of space travel.

A dedicated design team is at the helm of this project, tasked with selecting the most engaging and current articles from the world of astronautics, sourcing stunning photography, and crafting a dynamic, space-themed design that captures the imagination. Their goal is to create a visually striking and informative publication that bridges the gap between science and storytelling, encouraging both new and returning patrons to explore the universe of astronautics.

This initiative aims to spark curiosity, ignite passion, and foster a deeper understanding of our place in the cosmos—inviting subscribers to join a community where history meets innovation, and every month brings a new chapter of space exploration to life.

Target Demographics:
Key Audience: Museum patrons.
Age: 10 to senior, family friendly.
Geography: intended for regional distribution, but due to digital a vailability, it has the potential to be viewed internationally. If subscribed for mailed copy, National.
Education Level: Middle school (9th grade) and higher.

Research:
Contrary to popular belief, The market for magazines is still flourishing and hangoing on in this digital age. Age demographics plays a large role in popularity. younger viewers tend to read digitally, while the older portion of readers tend to prefer printed versions. Younger audiences tent to be attracted to technology and culture while older audiences are attracted to health, travel, or nostalgic subjects. According to the latest magazine readership statistics, 76% of U.S adults have read a magazine within the last 6 months, 87% of readers, trust the information published on a magazine which makes magazines the 3rd most trusted media source in the U.S., and 43.3 million magazines were circulated in the U.S in 2019.

Beyond Earth Magazine

My evaluation revealed that while the magazine was designed for aerospace science enthusiasts, its content successfully appeals to both younger viewers and mature audiences. By blending cutting-edge technological advances and future space endeavors with nostalgic historical accounts, including features like Buzz Aldrin’s article, detailed timelines, and retrospectives on landmark launches, the publication captures the imagination of a diverse readership. Findings suggest that this strategy not only honors the legacy of space exploration but also positions the next generation to relive the awe of historic lunar events.

Additionally, Beyond Earth magazine is set to deliver trusted news, analytics, and insights in both print and digital formats, all wrapped in a modern, family-friendly design.

Creating Jolly Rogers Coffee and Teal Co. was more than just a logo, packaging and cool posters, it was creating a product that many had done many times before and turning it into an idea, unique, connected to history, purpose and culture. Sure, Jolly Rogers brand is not for everyone, yet there is a marketing opportunity, coastal, regionally and culturally. I envisioned Jolly Rogers a a coffee with ingredients sourced only from the gulf coast to the Caribbean islands, the origin of many pirate tales.

Target Demographics:
Key consumers: fanbase, culture based, regional.
Age: 18 to 50, company line especific to children 5 to 10 will be developed.
Geography: intended for regional distribution, but due to digital a vailability, it has the potential to be viewed internationally. If subscribed for mailed copy, National.

I consulted with Texas Renaissance Festival Pirate re-enactors of proper pirate language. I also found a non-profit organization that I could tie this coffee brand to; sea turtle conservation, more specifically, Sea Turtle Inc. in South Padre TX. I chose the perfect theme to compliment the coffee line I wanted to portray. I wanted a font style that resembled elegance and 17th to 18th century scripture with a second family that seemed what we today, would recognize in a pirate themed script. The color gold was chosen to show a sense of regal, treasure and tie it in with Black Gold, in this case, coffee. In a sense,Everything is quite backwards. You wouldnt think pirates would match with sophistication, fancy, prestigiousness.

I created the Jolly Rogers Coffee and Teal Co. to include the name, logo, coffee and tea product line, advertisement packaging. I researched product manufacturing, importation and packaging requirementsto meet all legal requirements. With the use of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, I was able complete all research, packaging, advertising and live mock-ups for this product within 3 weeks. From a coffee and tea line, I would like to expand my ideas toward a product for children to include milk and plant milk products in a healthy manner, merchandise for company culture and a line of syrups, cocoa, pods and ready-to-go coffee packets.

Come & Taste It is a school project that I have evolved into a print effective business card sample. The objective is to create a recipe book using recipes found online or from those you use. There should be no less than 8 pages including the front cover and back page. Ingredients should contain tables and there should be a uniformed theme across all pages. The pages should all be 8.5x11 and both sides should be used.

Of course,I decided to add my own recipes in this project. As an avid griller and smoker, I have grown my index card stack of personal recipes throughout the years. I have hosted many parties, cooked for dozens of people and had many coming back for more. It was finally time to let the secret out! Brisket, pulled pork, fajitas and more! Due to deadlines and unforgiving schedules, I did have to speed these things up. I used stock images, clumsy typography and came out with what i thought then, was a finished product.

Initially, this book was 8.5x11, but printing was costly for the reasons I wanted them printed and had to make it more ledgible, so I decided to start from scratch. I had the copy on hand so that was one to check off the list. Instead of a full page, it was more cost effective to switch to half a page. 8.5x5.5. that's 4 pages per sheet, 3 pages per booklet, and the total pre book was around 4 bucks. way better than using an 11x17 sheet, 3 sheets, and about 7-8 bucks a booklet. The trick was now to fit all of that information from an 8.5x11, to a 8.5x5.5. Luckily I made a huge misgtake as a rookie a couple years ago when i fist did the project, everything was done 12pt. This gave me the opportunity to use 8pt, which meant more space for leading, I changed the font family for better ledgibility at smaller point and created what you see now. One thing was off though, I needed some authentic photography. I cooked, tested and perfected every recipe, then made the plate photo ready, and 250 photos later, I had just enough to fill in where those stock photos stood. Admittingly, there are a few in the drink menu that may be borrowed from stock photos, but the food is totally authentic. A lot of good eating, trials and errors, and new beginnings led me to this booklet you see now. I slapped my information on the back, including my QR code and now hand them out as gifts to potential customers and employers, professors, and anyone else who wants a cool little recipe booklet.
